Cradle-to-Farm Gate
An analysis of the carbon, water and miscellaneous emissions impact of an agricultural product, from inception to the point of sale or the “farm gate.” The assessment includes raw material sourcing, manufacturing, packaging and distribution, as well as the impacts of pesticides, herbicides, farming fuel, mechanical needs, among others. This analysis communicates the upstream carbon footprint of a product, usually food items, before it reaches the consumer’s plate.
