CO2e

CO2e, or “carbon dioxide equivalent,” is a unit of measurement used to express the combined impact of various greenhouse gases in terms of their contribution to global warming potential, primarily relative to carbon dioxide (CO2). It allows for a standardized way to compare the climate-warming effects of different gases by converting them into the equivalent amount of CO2 that would have the same impact over a specified time period, typically 100 years. This measurement helps quantify and assess the overall climate impact of emissions from various sources, including methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and fluorinated gases, in a consistent and comparable manner.
