Suzy Monford

Suzy Monford is the CEO of Food Sport International, a retail and grocery consultancy she established in 2009
when she was recruited to lead innovation for Coles Supermarkets in Australia. Her executive roles include The
Kroger Company (Group Vice President eCommerce-New Markets, Group Vice President of Fresh Food, and
President of QFC Grocery); CEO of PCC Community Markets in Seattle; CEO of Andronico’s Community Markets
in San Francisco; and CEO of Cheers Inc. Restaurants in Texas.

She is recognized as both a successful start-up and turn-around leader, and she is credited for the successful sale of Andronico’s Community Markets on behalf of its PE owner, Renovo, to Albertson’s, in 2017; for returning Kroger banners back to profitability; for
creating and launching Kroger’s GTM strategy for Ocado; and for creating and building new CPG/private label brands in both Australia and the United States.

Suzy is a pioneer of modern retail technologies and a catalyst for creating sustainably profitable bricks and
mortar, as well as eCommerce businesses. She most recently worked with C&S Wholesale Grocers in their
effort to purchase the Kroger/Albertson’s divestiture stores.

Suzy has twice been recruited to innovate retail and lead strategic change in Australia, first by Coles
Supermarkets in 2009, and then by Woolworths Supermarkets in 2013, where she was the head of innovation.
She began her retail career spending 10 years as an executive for H-E-B Central Market and H-E-B Grocery
Company in Texas. She has consulted for Morrison’s in the United Kingdom, andLoblaw in Canada, and worked
to bring Australian CPG brands to market in the United States.

A highly sought speaker, Suzy has delivered keynotes on behalf of FMI, RIS, Executive Women’s forum and
other organizations. Her achievements and recognition include 2019 “Top Woman in Grocery”, 2016 “Top
Woman in Retail Tech”/RIS, 2016 “Top Woman in Grocery”, and 2015 “Top 25 Technological Disruptors” by
Super Market News. She is passionate about creating healthy communities, and while CEO of Cheers, she
served on the executive boards of both the YMCA of Greater South Texas and the San Antonio Mayor’s Fitness
Council. She holds a BA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, is a Certified Holistic Health Coach
under the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, and an internationally certified group exercise instructor.

Monford hosts her bespoke videocast series “People, Planet & Profit” produced by Conversations on Retail, and serves on the Boards of The University of Texas at Austin School of Economics, Clean Harvest Farms, Q-Hop, S. Africa, and the Ghisallo Cycling Initiative. Under her retail practice she is the consulting CEO of the Co-opportunity Markets in Los Angeles and a consultant to the Vusion Group, Alix Partners, AFFI, Giant Eagle, and others. She has held Board positions with FMI, Seattle Food Lifeline, the Beecher’s Foundation/Sound Food Uprising, and the California Grocer Association..
