Offsetting

Compensating for an entity’s carbon emissions by contributing to projects, technologies, and/or offsetting credits which remove the equivalent amount of carbon from the atmosphere. This is a popular mitigation strategy by companies but does not solve the problem of reducing the absolute emissions generated by operations.
