Biomass Fuels or Biofuels
Renewable energy sources made from biomass such as plants, marine plants or biowaste. Biofuels are used for transportation, heating and cooking, and generating electricity. They can be used on a small residential scale or large industrial scale. Despite their versatility, biofuels have a carbon footprint and can have negative impacts such as deforestation or intensive monocropping. However, some biofuels are made from waste products, which can have a much smaller footprint. While wind and solar energy have become more affordable, biofuels remain a practical alternative depending on location and availability.
